Growing up in Studios where I was bullied, excluded, or made to feel “less than,” I saw firsthand how damaging the wrong environment can be. Dance, which should have been a source of joy and expression, often became a space of comparison, pressure, and hurt. Those experiences stayed with me, not as something that broke me, but as something that lit a fire in me to create change.
I opened Lumenis because I wanted to build the studio I needed when I was younger: a place where every dancer feels safe, seen, supported, and celebrated. A place where kindness is taught just as intentionally as technique. A place where community matters more than competition, and connection matters more than perfection.
Dance has incredible potential to bring people together. It heals, it empowers, and it tells the stories we sometimes don’t have words for. I’ve witnessed how movement can lift someone out of a dark moment, build confidence where there was doubt, and help people reconnect with themselves and others. Dance is far more than steps, it’s a form of human connection.
That’s why inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do.
Lumenis is open to all communities, all backgrounds, all bodies, and all abilities. I am committed to working with families who have financial challenges, because no child should lose the chance to dance simply due to cost. Art should be accessible, not a luxury reserved for a few. Lumenis exists to give dancers a positive, uplifting, and meaningful experience, one that prioritizes growth over gossip, compassion over criticism, and authenticity over perfection. This studio is my heart.
It is my second chance at what dance could have been for me and what it will be for every student who joins our family.
